Zoltan’s Story

“Go out quickly in the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame…go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.” Luke 14:21-23 (NIV)

In a small home in the poverty-stricken village of Brasov, Romania lives a young boy named Zoltan. Born with cerebral palsy, Zoltan is unable to move freely, and has spent most of his life in the shadows of his home.

Zoltan’s mother, Gabby, takes care of him without any help from friends or family. Although Zoltan is unable to walk or speak, he and Gabby share a special bond. She is his voice, his transportation, his help Zoltan relies on his mother for his every need. But as he grows, his disability weighs heavier and heavier on Gabby.

Their story is not unique. In developing nations all around the world, people living with disability and their families are struggling, isolated from community. For most, access to a wheelchair is extremely expensive, if one is even available in their region. But the gift of a wheelchair delivered with the gospel provides fresh hope, dignity, and opportunity.

More than 70 million people worldwide are in need of a wheelchair.

At Joni and Friends we envision a world where every person with a disability finds hope, dignity, and their place in the body of Christ. Through your generosity, we are providing mobility and the hope of the gospel. Together we are transforming lives!

So, friend, thank you for joining us in making a difference around the world!
