Wordless Groans
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and there are times when we go to the Lord in prayer and our soul is in absolute knots. We want to have our prayer make sense, but when we try, we can’t even put two sentences together. Fear grips us or confusion bewilders us; and discouragement scatters our words.
Anyone listening in would never understand what in the world we were praying about! But Romans chapter 8 says, “… the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Now, you and I may have trouble communicating to our Lord in prayer, but the One who searches our hearts knows all about it. The Spirit is never limited by your weakness for words. When your groans reach heaven, you have every confidence that you do have a voice before God. I’m Joni Eareckson Tada.
