Who Controls You?

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My friend Steve told me he could not stand his co-worker — apparently, the man never included Steve in important meetings, he often gave Steve condescending looks. My friend even got to the point of saying, “You know, I can understand why people murder! Yikes! And Steve’s a Christian saying that! It’s clear that Steve is allowing himself to be controlled by this other man, rather than being controlled by the Spirit. Plus, I’m sorry to say my friend is an idolater — Steve idolizes respect and he’s upset that he’s not getting it. No matter how awful the other man acts, Steve’s first accountability is to God; and right now, his anger shows that his heart is anything but close to the Lord. So, if you are harboring resentmentsyou are ultimately resenting God. Don’t want that! So today, yield to the Holy Spirit and leave the others, like that co-worker, to God.
