Walking in the Dark

Walking in the DarkA lot of people get a little scared in the dark. Are you ever afraid of the dark? If you have a flashlight or the moon is shining brightly, then it can be fun to take a walk in the dark or sit around a campfire. But if you really can’t see, uh oh! Even if you are inside your room and the light is off and you aren’t scared at all, you can still bump into furniture or step on toys. Ouch! There’s a good reason to turn on the light if you need to go anywhere! This week’s Key Verse talks about how following Jesus is like turning on a light. John 8:12 says, “I am the light of the world. Those who follow me will never walk in darkness. They will have the light that leads to life” (NIrV). When we are following Jesus, we don’t need to be scared and we don’t need to be worried that we’ll hurt ourselves because we are going the wrong way. So as we start getting shorter days and longer nights, remember this: with Jesus, we can walk in the light!
