Upright and Balanced

I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I remember the time my sister Jay and her husband Rob went sailing on the Chesapeake Bay when a sudden storm came up. It was pretty frightening, and their 40’ sailing vessel nearly tipped over in the high waves. “Thank goodness we’ve got a lot of weight in our keel!” she told me later. “It’s really what saved us!” And she’s right. Their sailboat was able to stay upright because the weight in their keel kept them steady and gave them balance.

And isn’t it the same way when you face storms in your life? Friend, if you’ve got weight in your keel, you can face the strongest winds of adversity with courage and confidence. The book of Romans celebrates the depth of the wisdom and the knowledge of God – and it’s that wisdom and knowledge which gives you a deep keel, keeping you upright and balanced no matter how challenging your days! And you’re going to need that keel to go sailing confidently into your future.
