Trust And Obey

“So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.”

1 Peter 4:19

Sometimes when you are racked with pain and confused by sorrow or heartbreak, you long for a simple solution. A clear way out of the mess. A hopeful path that is straight and true. Something, anything, to help you move up and out of the miry pit, albeit with shaky, tentative steps. What is the Bible’s plain answer to dealing with suffering?

First Peter 4:19 provides your signpost: “So then, those of you who suffer according to the will of God, commit yourself to your faithful Creator, and continue to do good.” Friend, committing yourself to your faithful Creator is trusting him. Continuing to do good is obeying him. So when you suffer, trust and obey. Friend, even when things are at their worst, the old song rings true. So today, “Trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, than to simply trust and obey.”
