“The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart for all generations.”

Psalm 33:11

Through years of quadriplegia, I have drawn tremendous comfort from the verse above. During every battle with pressure sores, lung infections, cancer, and chronic pain, my confidence in God has always been bolstered by the unshakeable truth of his sovereignty. Even during the outbreak of coronavirus, I have continued to rest, confident that God’s dominion extends to the realm of even tiny microbes!

I write about the rule and authority of our great Savior in my book, Finding God in Hidden Places. For it is in those private moments of solitude and in quiet places of reflection where we often need the comfort of knowing that God really is in control.

When Jesus demonstrated his authority over the wind and waves, he was proving to us that we needn’t be afraid when trials and disappointments sweep around us.

It’s why, today, I am offering you this special edition of Finding God in Hidden Places. It’s a season when many people are feeling unsettled and a little unnerved, what with so much upheaval in the world – I want to offer you the firm and unwavering assurance that Jesus knows exactly what’s happening, how it impacts your life, and how it will all turn out in the end.

Look, I am an aging quadriplegic with frail lungs – yet God has given me boundless joy in his sovereign control. In my book, I share how the Lord’s purposes are always wise, specific and good, no matter how disquieting the seasons of our lives. So, infuse your heart with God’s truth: pick up your copy of Finding God in Hidden Places today… and order one for a friend who is struggling. And remember, all proceeds go directly to supporting the excellent programs of Joni and Friends. And have courage, friend. God will always be there in the hidden places of your life!
