The Ten Commandments Convict Us

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada.  I was only 15 years old when I opened my heart to Christ and asked him to be my Lord and Savior. I remember the camp meeting and the speaker who asked us kids to measure our lives against the Ten Commandments. Okay, I can pass this test, I thought. Well, by the time the speaker finished, I was a lying, stealing, adulterous, idolater! 

Like Jesus said, “You break one law; you’ve broken them all.” Back then I wondered why would God give us a bunch of commandments that he knew very well we can’t keep? But, failing the standard taught me I needed rescuing. I was a sinner. That’s when the light bulb went off. Jesus kept all ten commandments. He lived a perfect life. I should have been on the cross, but Jesus took the rap for me—and for you. I wasted no time accepting this amazing gift, and I encourage you to do the same!
