carrying-crossYesterday we asked you what you could see in this drawing of Joni’s. We asked what it was that Joni drew above Mary’s knees. Did you guess what that is? It is three itty-bitty crosses on a hill! When Joni drew this picture, she wanted to show that the reason we celebrate Jesus coming as a baby is because Jesus grew up to die on the cross for our sins. Sometimes in the middle of all of the fun things at Christmas time, it is hard to remember why Jesus came. Maybe you would like to take a minute to pray:

Dear Jesus, thank you for coming as a baby. Thank you for growing up in a family and knowing what it is like to have brothers and sisters and friends. Thank you for living a life of obedience to Mary and Joseph and to God the Father, too. And thank you for dying on the cross for me so that when I disobey God and sin, I can ask for forgiveness and you can help me to be good. Amen.
