The Joy I Found in Serving

When I was 12 years old, our good friend, Steve Pyne, invited my mother and I to serve at Family Retreat at Camp Allen. We didn’t know what to expect, but that year changed my life!

As a young girl, I was blown away by the love, the smiles, the joy, and the fun that these families experienced. I realized the joy I found in serving others. My mother and I committed to serve every summer after that year. Little did I know the plan God had for me 14 years later when I accepted a job position at Joni and Friends Texas. It was a dream come true.

Over these past seven years on staff, I thank God for the opportunity I have had to serve the ministry in different ways. There is a whole world of disability ministry within Joni and Friends that I didn’t know existed during my time as a volunteer. Our mission to communicate the Gospel and equip the church to evangelize and disciple people affected by disabilities is the driving force of our office. I thank God every day for the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team, serve with faithful volunteers, and pray alongside our families and friends.
