Susan at Family Retreat

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. At one of our Joni and Friends’ Family Retreats last year, I met Susan, a single mother of two kids with disabilities. The very first day I could tell she was full of resentment. Things must have been hard back home. But Susan really liked the volunteer we had assigned to her two children, and as the week went on, she found herself relaxing a little bit. One afternoon we sat at lunch together and she told me in a soft voice, with wide eyes, “Never… ever have I experienced anything like this. I’m a new person!” And you know what, she really was. She had opened her heart to Christ earlier that day.

Jesus says in Matthew 11, “Come to me, all ye who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Yep, that’s what Susan found at Family Retreat… rest… and a lot of fun and fellowship. Find out more at joniandfriends.org.
