I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. How many times have you watched someone stumble headlong into some awful sin and thought, “Man, you’d never catch me doing that!” Well, friend, if that’s you, you better watch it. Remember that verse in 1 Corinthians 10, “If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall.” It’s the people who believe they’re standing firm who are the most susceptible to sin – I mean, just look at the Bible: Upright and obedient, Noah stood alone against a carousing, lustful world that drank itself silly. Who would have thought that Noah would end up drunk? And then Peter followed the footsteps of Jesus closer than anyone. Yet, he was the one who ended up cursing and denying the Lord. Well, 1 Corinthians goes on to say that “these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us.” So, friend, don’t be surprised at the temptation. Just be careful that you, too, don’t fall.
