The Luke 14 Project: Spreading Hope To The Darkest Corners Of The World

The Luke 14 Project is spreading hope through hardship in the darkest corners of the world.

Zoltan and his mom, Gabby, live in a poverty-stricken village near Brasov, Romania. Born with cerebral palsy, Zoltan is unable to speak or move freely. He has spent most of his life in the shadows of his small home.

Gabby has always taken care of Zoltan without any help from friends, family, or medical professionals. She was not even offered a wheelchair when he was diagnosed. Her husband passed away and so caring for Zoltan is a full-time job.

Although Zoltan is unable to walk or speak, he shares a very special bond with his mother. Gabby lights up when she looks at her son—she loves him dearly. She takes pride in the responsibility of being his voice, transportation, and his help. But Zoltan relies on her for his every need. Because of that, as he grows, his disability weighs heavier on Gabby. It won’t be possible to carry him as he gets older.

When our Wheels for the World volunteer mechanics and physical therapists arrived at Gabby and Zoltan’s home, they weren’t sure they would be able to find the right wheelchair for ZoltanWith his unique needs, Zoltan required a very special wheelchair to support him properly and provide the mobility he desperately needed.

But by the grace of God, not only did they find a wheelchair that suited his needs, but it was the perfect fit for a child just like Zoltan.

Gabby shared, “this wheelchair will change a lot [for us] because now I can take him outside, he can go with me to my mother’s… I can take him to the store… I can take him back to physical therapy.”

Zoltan was given the gift of mobility and the hope of the Gospel. No longer will he be hidden in the shadows of his home. He can go outside to be in his community and visit his family.

Thanks to our Luke 14 Project partners, children like Zoltan are receiving the practical help they desperately need. But what’s more, they get to experience the love of Christ and receive the Gospel message through the gift of a Bible in their language!

The need is great. There are thousands of children just like Zoltan who are confined to their homes, desperately needing community. You can give them the means to go outside and experience freedom for the first time. Learn more about the Luke 14 Project today!
