Showing Compassion“Let’s play tag!” A boy in Joshua’s class called out to the other kids on the playground. Joshua frowned and looked down at the blacktop where he was standing. A game he couldn’t play. Again. He tried not to make a big deal of it, but he was still sad. “Hey, Joshua!” Joshua looked up to see his friend Carter motioning to him. “Aren’t you going to play tag with us? We’ve made up new rules. It’s walking tag!” Joshua stopped and then gave a great big smile. He can’t run because of his disability, but he can walk just fine! He went over near Carter and gave him a great big high-five. “Thanks, Carter. Thanks for thinking of a way to include me. Oh, and tag! You’re it!” Joshua ducked and walked quickly away, laughing the whole time.
