Showcase God
Did you know that God puts His own reputation on the line when He permits your suffering? Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and when it comes to affliction, God says in Isaiah chapter 48: “See … I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this.”
Now, it’s hard to understand, but when God allows suffering in your life, He is staking His reputation on your good response. Like the verse says, He does this for His own sake because He has in mind to make Himself look good through the way you respond and trust Him in your affliction.
Oh, friend, today you’ve got a chance in your afflictions to make God look great, and I can’t think of a higher or more holy purpose. God wants to make His reputation shine gloriously through you. It won’t make your pain go away, but it’ll sure make your heart overflow with His delight, His joy and His courage.
