Because we all fall short of God’s perfect standard of living, Jesus came to pay the penalty of our sin.

The Salvation Message

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada with a word if you’re curious about Christ.

Have you ever enjoyed a glorious sunset or maybe stood by a thunderous waterfall and you thought: only God could create something so beautiful! Most people have these thoughts, and some people come away believing that yes, there is a God. But how do you come to really know Him? Well, time-tested, loved, and read by millions around the world, the Bible presents key truths which explain how you can know God. The first truth is very personal. Romans chapter 3 describes each one of us where it says, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God." Some people have a hard time believing that, so let’s take it a step further… let me explain it.

You see, almost every person thinks he is basically good. And if you think that, well, one way to find out is to ask yourself if you have obeyed the most basic common law known to man, and that’s the Ten Commandments. You can read all ten by looking them up in Exodus chapter 20 in the Bible. Most people would say that they have broken well maybe one or two of the Ten Commandments, but nothing very serious.

But take a closer look. How would you measure up against the first commandment where Exodus 20 says “You shall have no other gods before Me.” So, may I ask “Have you always put God first in your life?” No? You haven’t? Well, don’t be surprised, Jesus said in the Gospel of Matthew that we are to love God with all our heart, all our mind, soul and strength. (Who can measure up to that?) Another commandment says, “You shall not murder.”  Jesus explains that, “anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment.”  Friend, the point is, God doesn’t grade on a curve. The Ten Commandments reveal how far, how very far we fall short of God's standard for right living. That’s really bad news. But here’s the good news:

Even though we miss the mark of God's standard, His mercy comes shining through, especially in John 3:16, where he says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Oh friend, look, He knows you’re a sinner; but He wants you to know He’s a Savior. The Bible says “…He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” His abundant love has provided a way of rescue and the rescuer’s name is Jesus. Jesus is the One who honored God's law. He kept all the Ten Commandments and this means He was able to bear sin’s death penalty, all so that you could be rescued from your predicament! So friend, there’s no need to be curious, no need to stand far off from God anymore; meet Jesus, your Substitute on the cross. Will you accept the gift He wants to give you; the free gift of salvation? I hope so and if so, right now open your heart in a fresh new way to your Savior, Jesus. Speak to Him in the quiet of your soul – He knows what you’re thinking. Turn then from your old habits, your old way of living and purpose to follow Christ. Then, I want you to go to, our home page, and click on the tab that says The Good News because we want to pray with you.
