The Sparkle Effect

Making friends in high school is not always easy but getting involved in school programs can help. When Sarah noticed that her classmates with disabilities were being excluded from school activities, she invited them to join her cheer squad. At first, Sarah had no idea how the football fans would react to the inclusive cheer team. But after their first routine, she was overwhelmed: the entire stadium jumped up to applaud. In no time, an organization called The Sparkle Effect was started. Now there are more than 180 Sparkle Teams in 30 states that include disabled kids — and it continues to grow. Sarah did exactly what Luke 14:21 tells us all to do, “Go quickly into the streets and alleys and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.” Never would Sarah have dreamed that her thoughtful invitation would have such an impact!
