Beauty From Life's Storms

I recall shivering under my quilt as a child whenever a winter storm would shake our house.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I recall shivering under my quilt as a child whenever a winter storm would shake our house. I’d listen to the scary howling and creaking of tree branches outside my window. The roaring winds, sleet and snow, it made the night seem so long and dangerous. But then, quiet would come in the morning. You look outside and everything is calm and beautiful with the ground all silvery-white with snow.  It shows me that there are times when we are blasted by blizzards – not the weather type, but emotional blizzards. Storms that scare us and feel despairing.  We become frozen in pain and grief.  But remember this, the God who brings beauty from blizzards is the God of peace. Second Samuel 23 says, “He is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless day.”  If Jesus can calm raging weather and quiet the blasting wind, He can bring rest to your blustery soul.
