After Awhile

It’s a fact that we are more eager to finish a task when we know that there is a reward awaiting us.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and it’s a fact that we are more eager to finish a task when we know that there is a reward awaiting us. The prize at the end motivates an Olympic athlete to give all he’s got, it helps a woman in labor to push harder, or a student in college to keep hitting the books. And I tell you, after sitting in this chair for decades … to know that there will be a reward after this pain? It really lifts my spirits and keeps me striving. Now, you might be wondering, well, what is the award? Well friend… I will see Jesus at last. And to finally see Him in glory means no more pain, no more tears, no more long nights, no wheelchair, and no more disability!  That’s why Matthew 5 says, “Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven.” Come on, Christian friend: be glad. Be very glad. Life is hard, but there’s a happy reward lying just beyond the horizon.
