Plugged In
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And often nowadays, we “abide in Jesus” as though we were charging our iPads. We sit down for our quiet time and wonder how long we are required to plug into God before we get our spiritual charge. But life in Christ is not going to conferences and coming home from a week-end trip feeling a surge of divine power. No, we abide in Christ 100 percent of the time. Because Jesus says in John 15, “I’m the vine. You’re the branch.”
Friend, a branch stays attached to the tree all the time, not like an electronic device that connects and disconnects from a charger. No a true disciple of Christ can never disconnect. So, when you abide in Jesus, it’s never a matter of him leaving off with his power, and then you taking over. No, the branch and the vine are one. Friend, if your spiritual batteries are draining, then it’s time to double check to see if you’re a living branch on his vine.
