Parenting a Child with a Terminal Diagnosis
When Jim and Deanna Achilles’ daughter was diagnosed with the progressive disease Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T) at 8 years old, they received heartbreaking news: there is no cure. With no way to stop degeneration, Jim and Deanna were introduced to disability and left walking the line between life and death.
Two decades later, Ryn Achilles has outlived doctors’ predictions and is now 28 years old. But as A-T has progressed, it has been unrelenting. Today on the podcast, Jim and Deanna are talking openly about the grief and challenges they’ve experienced while hanging in the balance between life and the expectancy of death. Listen as they share the hope they have found through their hardships and the encouragement they would give other parents raising a child with a terminal diagnosis.
