Painting with a Wheelchair?

Recently my quad-friend, Tommy Hollenstein, stopped by our International Disability Center (IDC) for a visit – I had a chance to show him how we framed and displayed one of his beautiful paintings. Tommy paints using his wheelchair as his ‘brush!’ His friend spreads out a big canvas on the floor, smears different colors on his tires, and then Tommy goes to work, moving his chair this way and that – his paintings are a swirl of vibrant colors in motion! I’m going to ask him if he would like to bring his tools to a Family Retreat next year and teach kids in wheelchairs how to do the same! Next time you visit the IDC, come and admire his remarkable work of art!
