Pain … A Prayer Reminder

I love creative people! Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and let me tell you about Karen who deals with chronic pain. She’s the kind of person who doesn’t want to waste her suffering. She wants to partner with God in using it for His glory and for missions. And this is how she does it. Karen imagines that her body is, uh, kind of like a map of the world. And she has assigned different parts of her body that hurt to different countries around the world. So when her knee starts acting up, she can tell that “North Korea is needing God’s Spirit.” Or if her shoulder is in pain, she knows that “Papua New Guinea is in need of prayer.” That’s the way Karen deals with her pain. It’s a little odd, but I tell you what, pain can be a reminder – not only to her, but to us – to pray for people in other countries who live in such greater affliction. Good on you, Karen. What a creative way to grab pain by the horns and use it for the good of others… and for the advancement of Christ’s kingdom!
