Our Idols
I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and whether you are religious or don’t believe in religion, every human being is a worshipper. But as Romans chapter 1 reminds us, we tend to worship the creature rather than the Creator. Man carves out idols of his own liking and he worships them — proof that, by nature, people are spiritually deaf and blind, worshiping only what they value and prize on earth. True worship of God begins when the Lord opens our eyes and ears to the folly of bowing down to earthly idols like craving the attention of others or desiring beauty or acceptance above all else. True worship also happens when we understand what God has done for us in giving us His Son — godly worship is valuing and prizing Jesus. Today, worship God in the Romans chapter 12 way — present yourself as a “living sacrifice” to Christ. Prize Him and value Him by the way you live before others.
