A New Christmas Tradition

Scissors, paper and glueFor many families, Christmas includes special traditions or activities they enjoy every year. Does your family always decorate a Christmas tree? Do you help Mom make a gingerbread house? Or do you all bundle up and go outside Christmas caroling? Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la! Many Christian families celebrate Advent, which begins four Sundays before Christmas. (That’s this Sunday!) Advent is a time to think about the birth of Baby Jesus. Some families use special calendars called Advent calendars that have prayer reminders and fun activities. If you don’t have an Advent calendar, you can make a paper chain Advent calendar to count down the days until Christmas. Download this page for instructions on how to make one. Take time each day as a family to remove a circle from your chain and do whatever it says. The chain gets shorter and shorter, until it’s Christmas Day!
