HalleyHalley roller-skatingToday we are interviewing Miss Halley. Once you’ve read how her job helps others, don’t miss learning about other helping jobs!

Miss Halley, what does a Travel Desk Coordinator do at Joni and Friends?

I organize flights and travel for volunteers and Short Term Missionaries (STMs) who serve at Family Retreats in other countries.

Is this something you’ve wanted to do since you were a kid?

When I was younger, I wanted to be a really good writer. I always thought I would end up writing for a newspaper or magazine. I have had some of my writing published, but God led me in a different direction. Now I write mostly just for fun.

What would you tell a kid who wants to one day have a job like yours?

Give Jesus your best effort and live to please Him even when you don’t know your future. Wherever He has placed you now is where He wants you to trust Him. Go to school, study, and get good grades. It is also very important to work hard and volunteer when given the opportunity, so you can share the love of Jesus with the world. Then over time, you will gain practical hands-on experience for a job later.

Do you have any advice you want to give our readers?

I would have loved to meet more people with disabilities when I was young. So try and befriend someone with a disability if you can. We learn so much about others and ourselves when we choose to selflessly love and care for them.

What is one thing people may not know about you?

I still love to play dress up! I’ve always enjoyed trying new things: makeup, dresses, or new hairstyles. God created me to be a woman and I enjoy being feminine and creative!
