My Birthday’s Coming!

This past weekend I told a friend how excited I am about turning 70, and she gave me an odd look. “Joni,” she said. “It’s not like 70 is the new 40; I mean, 70 is getting up there! But like I told her, that’s exactly what fuels my excitement. And you know it’s really odd? The fact that I’ve even reached such a milestone – it is so unusual for a quadriplegic like me to live this long and this well.

And as I look into this next decade, I’m humbled that God has seen fit to give me another year of proclaiming His love to families who are struggling with disability. I’m living proof of Acts 20:24, “I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”

Just yesterday, my joy really spiked when I checked the progress bar on the “donate to my birthday” page. Wow, so many of you have already joined me!

When I think of all the kids with disabilities who will receive Gospel-hope and the practical help of a wheelchair, well… I’m nearly a third of the way to my goal with only $35,528 more to go!

Every time I look at that progress bar, it feels like one ongoing birthday blast! Like the biggest ongoing Party ever. And the children who will be receiving wheelchairs are the honored guests at our happy party! Thank you for helping to make it happen!

I’d love for you to “drop by” my month-long birthday party on my fundraiser page. Help me reach my goal or just leave a comment. Celebrating a birthday with friends makes it all the better!
