Internships in Disability Ministry
Are you a student or young professional looking to learn more about serving people with disabilities? Our internship program will give you hands-on experience with ministering to people and families affected by disability!
Small teams of interns participating in the Ministry and Missions Academy join their fellow interns in training on a biblical view of disability and theology of suffering via our Beyond Suffering curriculum. Through serving at a Family Retreat and internationally helping equip the local church in disability ministry, Cause 4 Life interns are challenged to apply their learning and expand their capacity to evangelize and disciple people affected by disability.
The capstone intern (i.e. Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, etc.) will serve under the supervision of a University faculty member and a Cause 4 Life staff member in order to earn credit for the capstone project benefitting of people affected by disability.
Small teams of interns participating in the China/Thailand or Uganda Mission will join together for training on the biblical view of disability and a theology of suffering through our Beyond Suffering curriculum. They receive an opportunity for practical application of their learning by serving people affected by disability in the countries where they visit. Often, they also participate in another Joni and Friends program, like International Family Retreats or Wheels for the World™.
Cohorts of Doctoral of Physical/Occupational Therapy or Special Ed or Nursing students are taught Beyond Suffering as a core text, then serve as Short Term Missionaries (STM) at a Family Retreat. As a capstone to the internship, students serve people affected by disability through a Wheels for the World™ or International Family Retreat program where students have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
