Pastor Wiersbe once said, “Nothing is harder to heal than a broken heart, a heart shattered by experiences that seem so meaningless.” And then he added, “But God’s people don’t live on explanations; God’s people live on promises.” Isn’t that something? Well, hi, friend, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and we don’t survive because we’ve been given the blueprint of all the reasons behind our painful experiences. We live on the promises of God. Does that hit home with you? It sure does with me. Facing life with total paralysis is no easy feat, and I will be the first to admit that explanations for my wheelchair never have held much weight. But, oh, the promises of God; promises of his presence and grace. Promises like this one from Isaiah 46 where God says, “I am He who sustains you. I have made you and I will carry you.” Friend, that’s a promise. He’ll sustain and carry you. And that will lift your load today!
