The vest means that she is an assistance dog. She has had to learn lots more than most dogs! Assistance dogs are dogs that learn things like turning on lights or knowing when it is safe to cross a street or even what to do if their owner gets really sick! As you can imagine, it can take a long time to teach these dogs all they need to know. So these dogs are very special! But they are not just special because of how hard they work to help their owner. They also are great friends! Just remember that it is always a good idea to ask the dog’s owner for permission before you talk to or touch an assistance dog.
