boy in racing wheelchairA lot of people think that if they have to use a wheelchair, they can’t play sports. But that is certainly not true! The best proof of that is happening right now. A couple weeks ago, athletes from all around the world came to London to compete in the Olympics. And right now, there are other athletes from around the world competing in the Paralympics. It is the same thing only all of the athletes have a disability! That can make things even more exciting. A few years ago there was an equestrian (competing in horse riding) who was completely blind! Someone near her blew a whistle to signal what the track ahead of her looked like! Other sports include wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball. What sports do you like? Do you think someone with a disability could play? What could help that person play? Let us know what you think and then ask a parent to help you find photos or videos of athletes competing at the Paralympics.
