Experiment: How it Feels activityGrady was getting impatient. It always took his sister Jordan forever to get ready for school. Why couldn’t she be faster? Mom said it was because Jordan had CP, but Grady was tired of that excuse. Why couldn’t his sister just be normal? What was CP anyway? That afternoon, when Grady got home from school, he was surprised to see a bag of candy on the table. “Mom, Mom! Can I have a piece of candy?” Grady’s mom came from the kitchen holding out the oven mitts. “Yes, you may… if you can open the wrapper with these on.” Why would Grady’s mom ask him to put on oven mitts before unwrapping a piece of candy? Download this activity sheet and see if you can guess why.

I am a teacher by education and inclination and am advanced in years and I NEVER thought of teaching others how it feels to be hindered in doing such ordinary things. Thank you!

Because it would show Grady what his sister goes through in everyday life. It would show him exactly how hard it really is to live a life with CP.
