Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, asking, how would you sum up the Gospel? Well, 1 Corinthians 1:18 says, “The message of the cross is … the power of God.” And that message is: sin kills, hell is real, but God is merciful, His Kingdom can change you, and Jesus is the Way. Now, sure, acts of charity, gifts given in Jesus’s name, healing words of encouragement, all these things adorn the Gospel; they make it beautiful and winsome and appealing, but these things have no power to save. Like, when we give wheelchairs to needy disabled people? It makes the Gospel more attractive. But even that ministry has no power to save. Only the Gospel message focusing on sin and salvation through Christ can rescue someone from their transgressions. So, always share the message of the cross.
