Jenny’s Story

Do you remember this month’s Kids’ Corner theme? It’s fear and worry, and we wanted to share another great story from one of our Joni and Friends Cause 4 Life interns. Jenny, overcame her fear when she decided to serve as a leader for the Special Olympics.

“Do you ever feel nervous or afraid when you try something new? Like feeling scared you would fall while learning to ride your bike? Or worried you’d never make any friends when you started school? I remember having worries and fears like that when I was a leader for the Special Olympics. The Special Olympics is an event where kids of all ages and disabilities participate in games, sports, crafts, and other activities. It sounded really fun, but I worried I would mess up or do something wrong. Boy was I wrong! My life changed so much and my love for Jesus grew and grew! I was reminded of how we are to love everyone, even if they look or act differently. Can you think of a time when God helped you overcome a certain fear or worry? Try something new that you’ve never tried before and see what happens! It can be a game, food, sport, anything! Don’t be afraid because God is always right there by your side!”
