Intercede for the Needy

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and if you took a peek in my art studio, you might see a special photograph that I’ve got tacked up for inspiration. It’s a photo of Luis who paints with his mouth. He was born without arms, and he lives in an orphanage in Guatemala. And Luis could not believe it when he heard that I also draw with my mouth. This young man, living in such poverty in Guatemala, truly inspires me.

So as I paint, I pray 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 over Luis, saying, “Luis, may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, may he encourage your heart and strengthen you in every good deed and word.” Friend, when we intercede for needy people using God’s Word, we can’t help but receive eternal encouragement and good hope from Jesus ourselves. After all, we are the neediest of people, just like Luis.
