In the Midst of a Busy Season
“Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.”
Morning to night, Jesus walked weary miles, declared God’s kingdom, debated hostile leaders, and performed miracle after miracle. From dawn to dusk, He confronted demons, healed broken bodies, mentored followers, and plowed the hard ground of stubbornness, hatred, and willful unbelief. But He still found time to be alone with His Father, praying before sunrise or late into the night. His prayers were earnest, honest, and filled with complete confidence in His Father.
Are you in a busy season? Follow our Lord’s example by cultivating an inner walk of faith and a quiet heart. In the midst of your activities, remember that Jesus is at the bottom of the laundry basket; He’s under the car hood; He’s in the line of figures you’re tallying and in the booth you are serving as you refill coffee mugs. Use even those times to sing a hymn, quote a Scripture, and breathe a word of thanks to the One who loves you.
Thank You, Lord, for Your promise in Psalm 139 that wherever we are, You are there too. In the light and in the dark. At home or across an ocean. And You are in the middle of all my pressured day, every responsibility, if only I had the eyes to see. Reveal Yourself, Lord, in the busiest minutes of my day.
