Hope in Haiti

little girl walking into her classroom with the help of a therapistLife in the country of Haiti is hard. And after the big earthquake in January 2010, life became even harder. What’s more, for children who have a disability… things can be so much worse! That is why Joni and Friends has been partnering with churches in Haiti to train them on how to welcome kids with disabilities into their schools. When parents and teachers see that these kids can learn and improve with a little bit of extra attention, it makes a big difference!

One little girl started her first day of preschool without being able to walk. A loving therapist spent some time helping her stand and work her muscles, and soon this little girl was walking! You can imagine how excited her mother was.

This family comes from a religion that doesn’t have hope. But the love of God shown by the church when they welcomed this girl into their classroom brought the family great hope! Isn’t it wonderful that we serve a God who gives us good things? His good gifts allow us to give others good gifts, and that brings a lot of hope when life is hard. Wanna know one good gift you can give people in Haiti? Prayer! Pray with us for more people in Haiti to find hope in God!
