I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and so much of what happens through Wheels for the World these days got started over a decade ago when I first saw an ABC 20/20 report on the plight of disabled orphans in Romania … little children with cerebral palsy in cages, children with Down syndrome huddled in corners with hardly any clothes on. It was awful. And the next month we took more than 100 wheelchairs for children into Romania and we’ve been going back every year since. Our teams work alongside churches to distribute wheelchairs, holding training workshops and even putting in ramps and widening doorways. We’ve had the joy of sharing the Gospel with hundreds of people, and recently, we even organized a Family Retreat for Romanian moms and dads and their disabled children.
