Happy Birthday to Us!

This year Joni and Friends turns 35 years old! One fun thing to do when celebrating a birthday (or an anniversary), is to tell the story of the very beginning. Joni and Friends started at Joni’s kitchen table. Just like you might pull out your homework to do at the kitchen table while your mom makes dinner, Joni sat at her kitchen table to answer letters. People were writing her from all over! They heard the story of how she broke her neck. Then they saw her paintings and the movie made about her life. So many people wrote to ask her questions about God and her disability, that she realized she needed help! That’s why she formed Joni and Friends. Thirty-five years later, she and her friends are still helping people find answers to their questions about God and disabilities. What about you? What’s your “birthday story”?
