Hang In There

A river running over the rocks with fallen leaves.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and recently I had to be in bed for almost two weeks as I waited for a pressure sore to heal. At first, I was pretty discouraged. But then I knew what to do – I called my quadriplegic friend, Vicky, who has lived in a wheelchair almost as long as I have. “You can do it,” Vicky encouraged me on the phone, “God wouldn’t have allowed this were it not for your good. So hang in there, Joni” she said. She was right. Actually, she was echoing 2 Corinthians chapter 1 tells us to comfort others with the same encouragement we have received from God.

Friend, you don’t have to be a quadriplegic to pass on God’s comfort. But I tell you, there is a way you can really help people like Vicky and me – consider volunteering at one of our upcoming Family Retreats. For all the details, visit joniandfriends.org – because you’ve got a lot of encouragement to offer someone with a disability. Again, come by our website at joniandfriends.org.
