“God Must be Up to Something Big!”

Those were the first words I said to our president of Joni and Friends, Doug Mazza, on June 23, 2010 when I learned I had breast cancer. Yes, I was stunned to receive the doctor’s diagnosis, but immediately I sensed the courage of Christ rise powerfully in my heart. What is the “something big” God was up to? Drawing me closer to Jesus… strengthening my marriage to Ken… getting rid of the sins of fear and anxiety in my heart… developing in me a personal message to others dealing with cancer… and giving Ken and me a greater authority in prayer to ‘tear down strongholds’ that prevent those who suffer from embracing Christ (those are some pretty big things)! I have three years to go before I can be declared cancer free, and that forces me to take one precious day at a time, celebrating the mercies of my Savior!
