God Hath Not Promised

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I know you would agree: life is hard, very hard. And it’s why I thrive on encouragement. I remember long ago when I was in the hospital, a friend gave me an encouraging little poem by Annie Johnson Flint*God has not promised sun without rain, joy without sorrow and peace without pain. But God has promised strength for the day, rest for the labor and light for the way. Many years have passed since I was given that poem, but I remember it still. Look, God knows that life has its challenges. God also knows we need encouragement and it’s why he tells us in Hebrews chapter 3 to, “Encourage one another daily…”

Friend, please speak hope into troubled hearts, and never discount the power of uplifting words. Your small but sincere words can point others toward the God of all encouragement.

*Though Joni says Helen Stiener Rice in the audio, Annie Johnson Flint is the correct author of this poem. We apologize for this error.
