Go In Your Might

I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I love the story of Gideon in the Bible. In Judges chapter 6, God told little old Gideon that he was to conquer the mighty Midianites. But Gideon objected and said he was too weak. Now I love the way God replies; he says to Gideon, “Go in the strength you have, for have I not sent you?” God is inasmuch saying, “Go out there Gideon and act like Israel’s deliverer, even though you don’t feel like it.” You see, God takes his people as they are and makes them what they are not. And that should encourage you. God is going to use your natural gifts, because he believes your gifts are capable of being set to a higher task. You might not think so; but God sure does. And if the Lord is calling you to be brave, you better believe he’s going to make you brave, friend.

So today, let God take you as you are and make you what you are not. And that’s a good word from Gideon.
