Get Up and Get Going
I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. You know that old saying “Let go and let God”? Well, it raises a good question … Do we yield to God’s power, making no effort on our own? Or do we roll up our sleeves and get to work, hoping God will chip in? Exactly who is supposed to be doing the work? Well, consider Exodus 14. When Moses lead the Israelites out of Egypt and stopped at the Red Sea with Pharaoh in hot pursuit, he told the people to stand still; the Lord would deliver them. But the Lord replied, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff … divide the water so the Israelites can go through … ” Now, true, the Lord did deliver them, but He accomplished His will as the Israelites exercised faith and action. So, “Letting go and letting God” is only half the battle. Today, act on the other half of that old saying: get up and get going in the power of God and just watch what He will accomplish.
