“You are my hiding place; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with songs of deliverance.”

Psalm 32:7

When the 1994 earthquake hit LA in the middle of the night, our house shook violently. As a quadriplegic, I was not able to jump out of bed and run for cover. So Ken quickly threw himself over me to protect me should the ceiling cave in! With him covering me, I felt safe. You know, I think of that moment whenever I read Psalm 32:7: “You are my hiding place; you preserve me from trouble.” Are there days when you feel like everything is caving in?

Your world is crumbling? Countless times in the Bible we’re told, “God is our shelter and strength.” He hides us in the shadow of his wings and places us in the cleft of his rock. When it comes to finding safe harbor, God is constantly saying that, in him, “his afflicted people will find refuge.” That’s from Isaiah 14. So are you in trouble today? You know where to run for cover.
