Favorite Scriptures

Hi, this is Joni Eareckson Tada, and when I have tough days, I like to grab hold of favorite scriptures in different translations of the Bible. It’s just a way of giving an old truth a fresh perspective. So, the other day, I looked up Romans chapter 5 in The Living Bible, and it says, “We can rejoice when we run into problems and trials because we know that they are good for us ‑‑ they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady.” Wow! That’s a great paraphrase of Romans Chapter 5.

So, follow suit. When you are having a tough day, turn to God’s Word. And then enjoy looking up various translations or paraphrases, or even the original Hebrew or Greek in a Lexicon. It’ll give you a fresh slant on some powerful, old truths.
