Farewell, Doug Mazza

This month is a bittersweet time for me as Joni and Friends’ Doug Mazza (on the left) retires after twenty years of service as President and COO. For two decades, he and his wife Lorraine have poured 100% of their time and energy into strengthening our outreach, and during their tenure they’ve become dear friends to Ken and me. Doug’s leadership has brought great growth to Joni and Friends, always believing that its purpose is so much bigger than a ministry centered on “Joni”—that is, my persona. So many of our outreach programs which are now so successful have come from his forward-thinking and brilliant business mind. Doug’s legacy gift to Joni and Friends is the beautiful Luke 14 Mural which hangs in the lobby of our International Disability Center – Doug and Lorraine’s sponsorship made possible the creation of this extraordinary painting. All of us at Joni and Friends so appreciate the way Doug strengthened the framework of our ministry for future growth, and his efforts will be felt long into the decades to come. Oh, how we will miss Mr. Mazza. I invite you to send Doug a word of thanks and congratulations as he transitions into retirement!
