Fanny’s Leader

Fanny CrosbyFanny couldn’t remember a time when she could see. She had been blind for such a very long time. Because she couldn’t see, she worked hard to memorize her school lessons and verses from the Bible. When she was ten years old, she started memorizing five chapters from the Bible every week! Fanny also started writing words to songs. She could remember all of the words to her songs without needing to write them down. And she wrote a lot of songs! She wrote so many songs that she sometimes used other names so people wouldn’t think it was weird that one person wrote so many. You probably have heard several of her songs, like this one called “All the way my Savior Leads Me.”

All the way my Savior leads me,
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

By Fanny Crosby
