Down Syndrome Lesson
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I received a letter from Hannah who recently gave birth to an infant with Down syndrome. She was taken aback when several friends told her how sorry they were. Hannah wrote me, saying, “Joni, when you consider that 9 out of 10 mothers abort when they hear they are carrying a child with Down syndrome, joy and not sorrow is what should be expressed at the birth of a baby with Downs. In a culture that loves to design its children while mercilessly seeking the extermination of any unborn child that doesn’t meet standards of beauty, and health, and intelligence, we Christians need to speak up. And that’s just what I’m doing.” God bless Hannah. And if you know a mother who recently gave birth to a baby with Down syndrome, encourage her; don’t discourage her with your regrets. And if you need help doing it, we got tons of resources at joniandfriends.org. Again that’s joniandfriends.org.
