Brooke’s Favorite Verse

Brooke is eleven. She has a disability called juvenile arthritis that makes her hurt all over. But she’s got a pretty special favorite verse. It is James 3:10, “Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?” Do you know why this is her favorite verse? She says, “I could do a lot of complaining about my arthritis, but I’ve learned that’s not right. I really want to trust God. I don’t want to complain.”

Is this something that is hard for you? Do you need to remember that God is God, and because of that, there’s nothing He’s allowed in your life that is worth complaining about? Then maybe, like Brooke, you can memorize James 3:10!
